| I was born and raised in Iowa, and attended Iowa State University, where I received a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. I moved to Southern California the mid 1990s to work in film publicity and finally ended up in the San Francisco bay area in 2001. It is a terrific place for artists and writes, and I have found the artistic community here to be amazingly supportive.
I have been creating handmade books since the late 1990s. I have always had a love of books, so creating my own is a natural extension of that. I have recently returned my focus to writing and I am currently working on a novel and several illustrated children's books.
Yes, that is a rat on my shoulder. My husband and I currently share our home with six rats (and a dog). Rats make delightful companions, contrary to what many people may think. They are social, friendly and clever. They know their names and can learn many tricks and perform feats of agility.
